GENERAL ELECTION

TUESDAY NOVEMBER 2

"Don't Gamble With Alaska's Future - Become Informed"!

When going to the polls we often make the mistake of voting for people with the cutest ads or most air time.  Is this really the best way to make important decisions that will affect Alaskans for many years to come?  Maybe we should stop listening to campaign rhetoric and look at voting records.  These records can be found at: http://www.akvoters.org/watchdog.htm.

If we find the incumbent does NOT represent our views then do NOT re-elect them!  Let’s try the challengers and see what they can do!  Then in a few years we can look closely at them and make the same decision all over again.  This is how we elect good representatives, not by voting for some party or another.

When voting on November 2nd, we must choose wisely.  Make sure your candidate can be trusted to do what’s best for Alaska, not cater to special interest groups, political parties, or bigger government.

If you have voting questions contact your nearest city/borough clerk, or the Division of Elections.  A list of borough web sites, and link to the Alaska State Division of Elections has been provided for Alaska Voters convenience.

On election night you can monitor the results online by going to the Division of Elections web site at: http://www.gov.state.ak.us/ltgov/elections/homepage.html

Remember, "An informed voter is the best defense against bad government"!!!

RESULTS OF FALL 2004 PUBLIC OPINION SURVEYS

Raw data from the 2004 public opinion survey series are available near bottom of the statistics page.  An analyses of these results has been developed by subject.  It clearly illustrates a conflict exists between what the public wants and what the legislature actually does.  The subjects covered include:

This is a very revealing study that should become required reading for all voters and high school civics classes statewide.
