RALLY IN SUPPORT OF THE PERMANENT FUND!!!
A House Special Committee on Ways & Means will hold public workshops in Anchorage at the Legislative Information Office (716 W. 4th Ave) on Tuesday September 23.
The agenda is as follows:
10:00 a.m. Statehood and the Equal Stand Doctrine 11:00 a.m. Permanent Fund debates Noon -- Break 1:30 p.m. The Permanent Fund Dividend 2:30 p.m. Current operations of the Permanent Fund Corporation 3:30 p.m. POMV Subcommittee 6:00 p.m. Public Hearing
From 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. are "listen only" sessions. Public testimony will begin at 6:00 p.m. and every Alaskan is encouraged to attend and participate.
Alaskans should remember the following facts:
Governor Murkowski's "endowment plan", a.k.a. the P. O. M. V. (percent of market value) plan, if approved by a vote of the people, will eliminate constitutional protection of the Permanent Fund principal. Becoming extinct under their plan is inflation proofing of the fund. This endowment plan also invites legislative appropriation of the dividend. Their plan is all about providing a steady flow of revenue for funding state government at existing levels!
WHAT CAN YOU DO TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE???
You can LISTEN to the meeting between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on the internet. Then comment during the public hearing session beginning at 6:00 p.m. Click HERE to find out if your local Legislative Information Office will be a teleconference site.
