SAVE THE PFD CAMPAIGN

The P. O. M. V. (percent of market value) Subcommittee and Lt. Governor Leman (about 20 elected officials in all) will storm the beaches of Dutch Harbor for the next round of "hearings" on this issue.  This meeting is set for 4:00 PM Wednesday at the Grand Aleutian Hotel conference room.  Once again these elected officials will attempt to convince the public that giving up constitutional protection of our Permanent Fund PRINCIPAL is a good thing!

The truth is, this P. O. M. V. scheme proposed by Governor Murkowski (also known as Murkowski's "endowment plan") will not only allow legislative access to Permanent Fund principal, but also eliminates the  PFD and guaranteed inflation proofing.  In reality, the only benefit of their proposal is a steady stream of revenue going to fund state government!

Make sure you share the truth with EVERYONE you know in Alaska, especially those living in Dutch Harbor!  Click HERE to see actual text of their P. O. M. V. scheme.

Have you sent a letter to save the PFD lately?  Click HERE and send your message in support of HJR 3/SJR 19 which will allow the public to vote whether to put the PFD into Alaska's Constitution, away from the clutches of our governor and legislature!

HOME PAGE QUESTIONS OF THE WEEK

August Public Opinion Survey

Over 500 people responded to our latest public opinion survey.  Results of the August survey can be found at the bottom of our Statistics Page, and should be shared with everyone you know in Alaska.

Legislators need to examine the VERY interesting results of this survey.  Some of the answers have huge percentages of respondents saying the same thing, which is just the OPPOSITE of what our legislature is actually doing!  This clearly indicates a MAJOR DISCONNECT between elected officials and the public.  Failure of the legislature to get back in touch with the public will force voters to use recall and/or the ballot box to close this huge gap.

ANCHORAGE FUND RAISER SUCCESSFUL

Future events planned

The last two weekends in August, several members set up an information booth in Anchorage and also attended the State Fair in Palmer.  The public was happy to learn about our organization and many new members signed up as a result of this effort.

In conjunction with the information booth we had a fund raiser which gave our bank account a much needed boost.  Two additional events are scheduled for September 6 and 13.  Anyone in the Anchorage area that would like to help us with this worthwhile project should contact our office during the week.
