SPECIAL ALERT!!!
Please Note Date & Time Change
The Senate Judiciary Committee will now hear
SJR 19 on Saturday May 17, 2003
at 10:00 AM.
SJR 19 will put the permanent fund dividend
and inflation proofing of the fund's principal into our state constitution.
This will take the fund's earnings out of the legislatures grasp without a vote
of the people.
It is
essential for everyone to testify or submit comments if we want this issue on the ballot in 2004.
If you are not able to testify in person, please
consider sending a message in support of SJR 19 using one or more of the methods
listed below.
Write a message and email it to the
Senate
Judiciary Committee.
Submit the same message as
written testimony
which will be attached to SJR 19 for all to see. Your friends and
neighbors without computers can also "sign" your message, but should
include their name and telephone number for possible verification. Fax
your testimony directly to resolution sponsor Senator Lincoln: (907) 465-2652.
The same message could be read into the record AND sent to the committee by
attending the meeting via teleconference from your local legislative information
office. The LIO in Anchorage, Fairbanks, Juneau, and Kenai will be open
for persons wishing to testify via teleconference. A list of
LIO locations is included for your convenience.
If you would like to testify but your local LIO is not going to be open, contact our
office
via phone (907/776-8008) or email, and we
will provide a toll free telephone number you can use for submitting oral testimony. Please
contact us by 8:00 AM Saturday, so we can get you on the call in list.
Consider also a 50 word public
opinion message (POM) sent to the entire Senate Judiciary committee in
support of SJR 19.
A copy of the Alaska Voters Organization formal
resolution in support of SJR
19 is attached for "talking points" that can be incorporated into your message.
And finally, encourage your family, friends, and neighbors to get involved.
By working together we can make this happen!
REMEMBER SJR 19 WILL PUT THE PFD
INTO ALASKA'S CONSTITUTION !!!
