Spotlight on Juneau
January 27, 2003

Hello Fellow Voters,

The 23rd. Alaska Legislature convened on Tuesday, January 21.  Committee assignments have been made and bills filed.  Committees have begun to hear reports from commissioners, and testimony on some introduced legislation.  Our initial review of  introduced legislation found bills that require closer examination by the public and media.  For all the details see the latest edition of the Spotlight on Juneau!

Legislation Research Committee Forms

During the 23rd. Legislature, the Alaska Voters Organization Research Committee will hold a breakfast meeting each Saturday morning to discuss bills that were introduced or scheduled for Legislative Committee hearings.  The Research Committee is responsible for determining which legislation will be posted on our Alerts page.  Bills listed on the Alerts page automatically triggers a voting record tally on the Watchdog page and listing in the newsletter.  Members of this committee will be assigned several bill numbers to research prior to the Saturday morning meeting.  At the Saturday meeting each member will report their findings and issue a recommendation.  Anyone interested in helping with this important task should contact our office to sign up.
