THE PERMANENT FUND

"Protect it for the generations to come"

PERMANENT FUND COMPARISON MATRIX

The Alaska Voters Organization (www.akvoters.org) has prepared this chart to help illustrate the three possible operating options for Alaska’s Permanent Fund.

The first column reflects how the Permanent Fund operates now.  The second column shows the affects of SJR 18 which is Governor Murkowski’s "government endowment, or percent of market value (POMV)" scheme.  The third column shows how legislation introduced by members of the legislative minority (SJR 19) will affect the Permanent Fund.

Every Alaskan Voter will soon be asked to decide which plan is best.  Take a few minutes now to learn the facts, because an informed voter is the best defense against bad government.

The official source for information presented above comes from text of legislation introduced and current Alaska State Statutes.  When reading the text of SJR 18 and SJR 19 it is important to observe not only what is stated, but what has been omitted or not clearly stated.  To fully understand this issue it is also important to read the referenced statutes dealing with Permanent Fund income, disposition of income (AS Sec. 37.13.140 & AS Sec. 37.13.145) and amount of dividend (AS Sec. 43.23.025).
