"An Informed Voter Is The Best Defense Against Bad Government"

The Alaska Voters Organization was formed as an inclusive, broad based, non-partisan coalition of Alaskan citizens.  We are concerned about further reductions in funding for education, transportation, public health and safety; threatened new taxes and raids on the Permanent Fund. At the same time, bureaucracy continues wasteful deficit spending and promotes unsustainable government growth.

Our goal is to provide Alaskan citizens with information concerning new taxes, non-essential spending and excessive budget bills being considered by our State Legislature.  We provide all the tools required to effectively lobby our Legislature against these bills.

Our Watchdog page is where we track voting records of the Governor and each Legislator.  Here you will see not only those who voted for excessive budgets, non-essential spend bills or taxes but also those who voted against them.  This will provide valuable information for Alaskan voters, so we can all make INFORMED decisions on election day.

Prior to each election our "Spotlight on Juneau" newsletter will issue a voting summary for each incumbent official showing their position on bills, which we have monitored during the previous sessions.  With the facts in hand, Alaskan voters will no longer need to rely on sound bites, rhetoric or double speak when making those important decisions about who will represent us.

We research legislation and provide source information via hyperlinks so that bills of concern can be studied in greater detail.  Every fact and figure presented on this site are from official State records and accurate to the best of our knowledge.  Any errors brought to our attention will be promptly corrected. 

One exception to this rule is our Opinion page where concerned voters, elected officials or political challengers may state their position on budget or "tax and spend" bills listed on our Alerts page.

We encourage everyone to take a few minutes each week to contact the Legislature. Tell them exactly how you feel about the bloated budget or "tax and spend" bills.  Our "just say no" message will eventually convince our Legislature to make the necessary reductions in State spending. 

Visit the Statistics page to see how big our State government really is and how much it costs each of us to operate.  State spending per capita in Alaska almost equals the next two highest states combined.  Are we really THAT much different than other Americans?

The savings we hope to achieve by this campaign can be used to responsibly fund constitutionally mandated government services.  The more we cut non-essential spending NOW, the longer we can delay new taxes and raids on the Permanent Fund!  We must seriously consider Alaska's future and shrink government spending to a sustainable level.
