Longevity Bonus
Survey
July 28, 2003
During the annual Progress Days event in
Soldotna and for several days on the web site home page a total of 248 people
completed a public opinion survey with questions about the Longevity Bonus
program.
Results from the web site and in person
surveys were similar enough to be combined. The purpose was to determine
whether the public agreed with Governor Murkowski's veto of the Longevity Bonus
program, if a special session should be held, and should each legislators
position on holding a special session be public record. People were also
asked if the are registered voters, and age range.
It is interesting to note the majority of
responders were in the 35 - 64 age range, followed by the 18 - 34 group.
The smallest percentage of responders fell in the age brackets that could be
directly affected by the Longevity Bonus program.
One important statistic of note indicated that
even those people supporting the governor's position, and not in favor of a
special session, still wanted each legislators position made public!
