Murkowski Didn’t Follow Rules he Proposes for APOC

Governor’s paper report took APOC staff two weeks to input

During his 2002 campaign, Governor Murkowski’s didn’t follow the rules he is proposing for the Alaska Public Offices Commission (APOC). The bill he introduced – HB 157 – calls for mandatory electronic reporting, yet Gov. Murkowski filed his reports all on paper which, according to APOC officials, took them two weeks to enter.

“Gov. Murkowski cited APOC for failure to ‘provide information to the general public as to who is contributing to whom’ and his campaign directly contributed to that by not following the rules he is proposing,” stated Steve Cleary of AkPIRG. “He can’t have it both ways. If he is going to change the rules, he should start by following them himself,” Cleary continued.

There are currently two complaints filed against Gov. Murkowski at the APOC.
